5 months about to be gone
This years' aim was to gain as much experience as possible. Learn too many new things, meet too many new people, become overly ecstatic, feel miserably sad, be totally numb, lost&confused, be outrageous but mainly any and everything that's away from my comfort zone. Yes, talking about the comfort zone. We all have our own. I came to this realisation after my SPM was over. A realisation which made me realised to not waste my youth for it'll only come by once and will never last. No matter how much I love to deny that, I'm actually growing up.
Growing up. Something I'm forced to go through which I eventually will but not in a rush to :)
A lot had happened since after highschool. Well, here are some/most of it...
January - March 25th 2012
Had my first ever part-time job. Worked as a Product Advisor at Adidas owned by GraceOne, Inanam branch. The first week was... lets just say bad really bad. At that moment there's nothing but " I want to quit ". Fist off, it was my first time ever working. Second, we had to serve the customers and since that was a first for me, I had a bumpy start because it was at first awkward. Then there's that no sitting policy at the selling floor. As active as I am, standing for a long period of time isn't as pleasant as it seems. Then there's that overly competitive co-workers who's nice to you but potentially ' steals ' your customer. I was a brat at first because that was a totally different atmosphere for me like 360 degrees different.
As time passed, being someone who's observant, I started to realise that I was actually being a brat and I didn't try to understand the situation at first. I began to mingle with my co-workers and got to know them. Psycho myself in to understanding why they're the way they are.
Indirectly, as time made way for itself, I realised that working there had taught me a lot. From the work ethics, the kind of people out there, how to mingle with totally different kinds of people; the ones I will not mingle with back then. These people had indirectly taught me a lot. An experience that I'd never trade for anything.
You see, most of my co-workers came from a very tough background. They don't have the luxury I have. I began to understand why they strive for customers, why every single thing is important to them. Sometimes, it's even difficult for them to get good food. Indirectly here, they made me grateful of what I have. I mean I am grateful but they made me even grateful. At the same time, they taught me how people like them live. Like how they sometimes struggle for certain things. Where I here, get what I want. They're actually nice people. Yes, not perfectly nice but still, nice. We have this S.O.P book where we have to read it and learn how to operate a retail and handle customer services. The problem is it's in English. They've worked there for years and I was only there for a week I could understand what most of it meant. So basically, I voluntarily helped them to translate and explain things that I know to them. In return, I learned so much about Adidas product and even Nike ( Hazeeq randomly taught me this ) and the history of few of the related brands. It's really interesting actually. A shoe is not just a shoe. It's technology bound. Even most of the apparels has technologies in them.
So, it was pretty emotional on the last day. I mean, I was sad that I'll no longer be there and I'll miss the people and certain work but at the same time I was relieved because I'll finally have time for my self and time to sort out my college and to finish my driving license. On the 7th of April 2012, 1B SP, 1B Original, 1B Puma and Inanam staff got together and made us ( Amalina, Sa'idatul, Iffa and I ) a farewell party. It was really touching. I mean how can it not be? We're only part-time workers and it was the first farewell party they've ever made for part-timers. All in all, they are bunch of nice people. God bless them for their deeds :)
p/s : Mal, Sai and Fa worked at Adidas SP 1B. When they haunt for jobs, at that time I wasn't allowed to. So I went haunting on my own and I just randomly decide to look at Adidas Inanam branch and got it on-the-spot. Then coincidently, Four of us are under the same company. I think all this are meant to be :3 at least I like to think of it that way :)
